Why Your Upstairs Rooms May Be Too Hot or Too Cold

Uneven temperatures between floors usually come from a mix of attic conditions, air leakage, and duct performance. All three deserve a look.

Three places to check

Attic insulation depth and coverage. Air-sealing at penetrations, top plates, and attic hatches. Ductwork condition and airflow to upstairs rooms.

Why one fix rarely solves it

Adding insulation without air sealing leaves leaks in place. Sealing without repairing duct issues means the air still does not reach the room. A real fix usually addresses more than one factor.
